    Description

Lima Bean 'Fordhook 242' (Phaseolus lunatus) is a famous open-pollinated heirloom bush lima bean and a historic All-America Selections winner. Renowned for its exceptional heat resistance and heavy yields, this variety thrives where other limas fail during scorching summer spells. Growing into sturdy, upright bushes 16 to 24 inches tall, it produces thick, heavy pods containing 3 to 4 large, plump, pale-green seeds. Often referred to as a "butterbean," Fordhook 242 features a rich, buttery flavor and smooth, tender texture. It is a prized choice for fresh summer side dishes, freezing, canning, and winter storage.
