Description
Dill (Anethum graveolens) is a classic, multi-purpose heirloom herb renowned for its delicate, feathery blue-green fronds and fragrant, umbrella-like yellow flower heads. Growing into graceful, upright plants reaching 30 to 40 inches in height, it is an indispensable staple for both fresh culinary use and home pickling. The entire plant is edible, providing tender leaves ("dill weed") early in the season, followed by aromatic seed heads ideal for pickling and spice blends. Beyond its culinary value, dill's nectar-rich blooms serve as an essential host plant for Swallowtail butterfly caterpillars and attract a wide range of beneficial garden pollinators.
