Description
Gourd Birdhouse (Lagenaria siceraria), also known as Bottle Gourd, is a historic heirloom vine prized for its unique, hourglass-shaped fruits that dry into durable, woody shells. Growing on vigorous, fast-climbing vines with large velvety leaves and night-blooming white flowers, these hard-shelled gourds measure 8–12 inches in diameter with smooth green skin that cures to a warm tan tone. Traditionally used for crafting natural birdhouses, water dippers, storage vessels, and ornaments, this prolific heirloom adds both practical crafting potential and lush vertical greenery to the garden.
