    Description

Hosta (Hosta species), commonly known as Plantain Lily, is a celebrated open-pollinated heirloom perennial cherished across shade gardens, woodland borders, and landscape design. Growing into mounding, lush clumps ranging from 12 to 24 inches in height, it produces broad, heart-shaped to ribbed leaves in dynamic tones of deep forest green, chartreuse, blue-green, and variegated cream. Valued primarily for its architectural leaf form and shade tolerance, Hostas also send up tall, slender floral scapes in mid-to-late summer topped with bell-shaped lavender or white blossoms. Beyond providing lush ground cover and elegant textural contrast, the blooms attract hummingbirds and beneficial pollinators, making it an essential anchor for low-light garden spaces.
